About Keith Harris History

This website got its start way back in 2005-ish, when "academic" blogging, for lack of a better word, was in its infancy. Its first incarnation, cryptically called Cosmic America, made wave or two, and piqued the interest of everyone from C-SPAN to white supremacist hate groups (death threats ensued...to no avail - I am still alive and well). 

Over the years the focus has shifted from Civil War history to American history more broadly defined. It has been a platform for things ranging from exposing the asinine in academia (an easy target) to the legacy of slavery and racism in the United States. Most recently, I have once again reinvented my web presence to place a heavy emphasis on American history and education.
