Historical interpretation is something near and dear to my heart so I am especially pleased to welcome Jake Wynn to the show. Jake is the Director of Interpretation at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick, Maryland...and we have tons to talk about when it comes to public history. Listen!!! You can thank me later :)

We discuss:

  • What historical interpretation actually is...(my guess is that some people don't really get it)

  • The significance of public history and why we should all pay attention

  • Curation at sites of historical significance and civil responsibility

  • Local history and the broader narrative

It turns out...Jake is also fascinated in Cold War History, so he suggests we all read Garrett M. Graff's Raven Rock: The Story of the U.S. Government's Secret Plan to Safe Itself - While the rest of Us Die (yikes!). And of course you can find Jake on the usual social suspects, Twitter and Insta...and his website - Wynning History (see what he did there?) so stop by and give him a shout.

Be sure and subscribe on iTunes or your favorite app so you never ever ever ever miss a show. That would be dumb.
