Why Mince Words?

I do not have much to say about the notion of black Confederates. Kevin Levin handles that topic well enough at Civil War Memory. But I saw this brief clip featuring my mentor, Gary W. Gallagher, while perusing Kevin's site and felt compelled to post it here. I think Gary drives the point home in good order...in his usual direct fashion. Yes - the idea that the Confederate States of America enlisted thousands (perhaps tens of thousands) of black men as soldiers is indeed demented. You can see why I enjoyed working with him so much when I was at UVa.
