Be not afraid to look the monster Slavery boldly in the face. He is your implacable foe—the vampyre who is sucking your life-blood—the ravager of a large portion of your country, and the enemy of God and man.
— William Lloyd Garrison, 1832

I loved every second of this movie...and, while I acknowledge that this is a vampire movie featuring Abraham Lincoln, there is a lot to say about the history as well. Someone once asked me about the historical accuracy of this film. And I'm gonna go with yeah...there's some solid (if creative) history here.  Coni Constantine, creator of Lady Balls Nation and yours truly have at it in this NEW segment of The Rogue Historian...something we plan on doing regularly - yup...reviews of films with a historical theme. This should be entertaining to say the least.

In this episode, we discuss:

- The incredible action, costuming, and cinematography (hello...this is a striking film visually)

- The bloodsucking, soul crushing, humanity depriving slaveholders (um...the vampires in question)

- Real-life historical characters who make their appearance in the fantastical tale

- Lincoln the legend v. Lincoln the man

- Slaying vampires in the future and the hopes for a 21st century installment

You'll for sure want to read the book, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith, who is also the author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies...which we mention in the show. And...you'll want to grab a Railsplitter/Vampire Hunter t-shirt...because you never know.
